Overview Busti is a town in south-central Chautauqua County, bordered to the north by Chautauqua Lake (and beyond that, the town of Ellery) and the city of Jamestown, to the east by Kiantone, to the south by Pennsylvania (Warren County) and to the west by the towns of North Harmony and Harmony. Busti includes several hamlets that started as lakeside summer homes and the busy village of Lakewood, where town government offices are located. With more than 7,000 residents, Busti is one of the more populated towns in the county. The town has an industrial park and several lakeside parks, as well as the historic Stateline Speedway race track. Local Museums & Landmarks The Busti Mill, a 19th-century grist mill that operated until the mid-20th century, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. The Dt. John Lord House was added to the register 15 years later. Jamestown, which is only 7 minutes from Busti, has loads of museums and landmarks, including the Lucy-Desi Museum dedicated to comedy legend Lucille Ball.

Essentials Lakewood has some interesting specialty shops and its retail center has been growing, but the big shopping attraction here is Chautauqua Mall. The mall has major retailers like JC Penney, Sears and lots more, as well as a movie-theater multiplex. Lakewood also has a Walmart Supercenter. Nearby Jamestown also has a Walmart Supercenter, a Sam’s Club and more small stores. For grocery shopping, along with the mentioned Walmart stores, Jamestown has two Tops Friendly Markets stores, a Wegmans supermarket and smaller grocers like Aldi’s and Save-a-Lot. Most students who live in Busti and Lakewood attend the Jamestown City School District, which has a high school, three middle schools, and five elementary schools. The Southwestern Central School District is on the west end of Jamestown and serves about 1,500 students. Jamestown Community College, a two-year school, also is in Jamestown. The regional hospital is WCA Hospital in Jamestown. The area’s libraries are Lakewood Memorial Library on Summit Street in the village, Hazeltine Public Library in Jamestown and, to the south, Sugar Grove Free Library in Sugar Grove, Pa.

Jamestown has the bulk of the area’s attractions, including the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena (for concerts, major shows, hockey and conventions), the Reg Lenna Center for the Arts (called the “Showplace of the Chautauqua Region”), the Lucille Ball Little Theatre (which hosts five major productions annually), the Spire Theater and the Willow Bay Theater.
