OverviewThe Browncroft neighborhood is in southeast Rochester and has a suburban feel. That’s easy to understand, because the neighborhood borders the town of Brighton and was annexed by the city of Rochester from Brighton in 1914. The area has large, elegant homes and tree-lined streets, with 400 homes on the city’s Browncroft Historic District and many on the National Register of Historic Places. The neighborhood’s original developer, Charles J. Brown, owned a nursery and gave the area its name. The neighborhood is bordered by Elmcroft Road, Blossom Road, the town of Brighton and North Winton Road. Ellison Park, in parts of Brighton and Penfield, is nearby. The Browncroft Neighborhood Association, a very active group, has kept the area mostly residential.

Many of the homes themselves are landmarks and Ellison Park is within walking distance.
