Welcome to Gerry, NY

Overview

Gerry is a town in east-central Chautauqua County, bordered to the north by Charlotte, to the east by Ellington, to the south by Ellicott and to the west by Ellery and Stockton. Part of the village of Sinclairville is in Gerry (the rest is in Charlotte). This is a small, mostly rural community of just under 2,000 residents. Here, you’re only minutes away from Jamestown, the biggest city in Chautauqua County, and its many attractions.



Essentials

Gerry is a small, quiet town with only a few stores, such as Country Fair. For more places to shop, you’ll have a short drive to Jamestown, where you’ll find Tops Friendly Markets stores and a Wegmans supermarket for grocery shopping. Jamestown also has several smaller specialty shops for retail shopping. For more shopping, Chautauqua Mall in Lakewood is only 12 miles southwest of Gerry (on the south shoreline of Chautauqua Lake). The mall has stores like JC Penney, Sears, Bon Ton and more.



Recreation & Entertainment

Gerry hosts an annual rodeo that claims to be the oldest consecutive rodeo east of the Mississippi River. Gerry is a rural, wide-open town whose main attractions are of the outdoor variety. Fishing, camping and hunting are popular in the Gerry area. In Sinclairville, The Marden E. Cobb Waterway Trail has two water trails, each more than 25 miles in length. The village also hosts an annual several-day concert event called Donnaroo.



Transportation & Traffic

Route 60 is a major north-south highway that passes through Gerry. Route 380 cuts through the southwest corner of the town.



Pros & Cons

Gerry has plenty of wide-open rural spaces, but is only minutes away from the conveniences and attractions of Jamestown.
